Wes looks on
Our host shows us the lid from the first hive
Luke and Tag were safe and sound in their bee suits!
Pulling out the honeycombs. In the background, you can see Wes headed to a fun spot in their backyard...
...the pond! We were supposed to wear long sleeves and pants, and Wes must have gotten too hot. He took a dip to cool off.
You can't see all the bees flying around in these pictures, but there were a lot of them. This hive housed about 30,000.
Tag was fearless
In the garage, they scraped the layer of wax off the honeycomb in preparation to extract the honey.
Four honeycombs per spinning session
They let the boys help spin out the honey
Mmm...honey. It pours out and is filtered into a bucket. From 11 honeycombs, they extracted about 2 1/2 gallons of honey!

Wow!! So cool. I bet that was a neat experience.
What a brave fam! I would have been FREAKING out, bee suit or no bee suit. But yum...honey!
Despite the fact that Wes fell into the pond and he's wet and a little traumatized in that 5th picture, one thing comes through loud and clear - that kid is going to be crazy handsome.
This, coming from a biased father of course, but still, I'm just saying...
Just when I thought your kids couldn't get any cuter you go and put a bee suit on them. Come on! Too much cutness!
Oh my gosh, I love it! What a neat experience.
