I was tagged and am supposed to list 7 quirky things about myself that nobody knows. I'll assume that "nobody" excludes Jim.
1. I hate filling the gas tank. I wait until it is absolutely necessary to do so. You know, when you're just rolling into the station on fumes? I've gotten a little better living in downtown Philadelphia because I'm kind of afraid of where I might get stuck on an empty tank.

2. I have to know how things are spelled. Every word I use in conversation is one I can spell. I think I'm strangely proud of the fact that I almost won the 2nd grade spelling bee, and was devastated to lose the 4th grade bee on the word "auditorium". I've never been the same since.

3. Cottage cheese is one of my favorite foods. I think it goes with everything. Jim thinks it is disgusting that I use this scrumptious delight in place of mayonnaise in my tuna sandwiches. I also mix it with oatmeal, put it on my salads...the possibilities are endless!

4. I park in the back of parking lots, unless it's dark out. I can't stand it when people drive around for 15 minutes looking for the closest space, then stop and wait for the perfect spot while a lady with a ton of kids loads in all her stuff and walks her cart back to the store. I just leave the closest spaces for those people. And besides, I like the little bit of exercise. I also usually beat those people into the store.

5. Even though I love playing the piano, I don't enjoy listening to music on the radio or stereo. I love quiet time, and music in the background doesn't relax me; it annoys me. I almost always think music is too loud, especially in the car. This is definitely a quirk, and not a favorable trait. Christmas music is an exception.

6. I have a particular way that I fold laundry. Maybe this is why Jim never offers to help me fold it. I probably wouldn't like the way he did it. It was a big step for me to let my mother-in-law do my laundry after Wes was born. It was great not to have to do it myself, and I have to say, she folded things impeccably.

7. My first impressions of people are nearly always wrong. I don't even believe them anymore. Many of my closest friends are people I didn't think I'd get along with.

This was fun to read! I love cottage cheese TOO!! My favorite is a bowl of cottage cheese with Doritoes (Nacho Cheese is the best) smashed in until it makes a nice spackle. (You must try it if you haven't already! Yum!) I am also like you with parking lots and music in the house (probably because in the house it becomes just another noise)

So what did you think of Jim when you first met him?

Ooh, that's a great question! He's pretty much an open book, and I liked him right away. My first impressions were that he was tall (a MUST for me), and funny. I guess I was right with him!

I'm with you on the gas tank - but I definitely hate spelling, cottage cheese, and folding laundry!

Hey Merideth! I'm so glad I can read your blog and catch up with you. We miss you!
How's Philly? I'm coming to visit you next summer and bringing my girls. Your boys won't know what to do! You just tell me when it is good for you. I can't wait.
What are you going to do for the holidays? I hope school is going well for Jim.
I love this entry. My girls love cottage cheese too but not quite as much as you. :) I never knew that about you so thanks for sharing- lol.
Have a great day and talk to you soon.

Hi Meredith! It was fun reading about you. I didn't know you could do so many things with cottage cheese. The only time I eat it is in Marilyn's yummy potato soup. I am always looking up words in the dictionary because I'm such a bad speller, but I care enough to try and get it right. I hope I get to meet you too! I really enjoyed spending a little time with your dad in Las vegas. Our new baby smiled at your dad, it was so cute. It was his very first real smile. We need to plan a family trip or reunion. I would love to get to know your side of the family better.
