Camping at Hickory Run

A few weeks ago, Jim took the oldest two boys camping for a night. They had a great time, and I enjoyed a quiet evening with Wes. It's weird how tending to only one child seems so easy now.

Jim and the boys had oodles of fun, despite the fact that they forgot to pack flashlights, and couldn't find a store that sold fuel for the lantern. Jim was using the car headlights to see with while he set up camp, and the battery died. No ranger was on duty, so he had to call 911 and was connected to a garage which sent someone out to jump-start the van. After that though, it was smooth sailing! Luke's favorite part was "sleeping in the tent".

This picture definitely says, "Mom is not here".

Luke lighting matches. This picture also says, "Mom is not here".

Don't believe their faces for a second. They loved it!

In that last photo - after letting them run free for a few hours, Luke and Tag are a little bummed about having to stand still (it was our third try or so with the camera timer).
